As briefly mentioned in my previous post (the one below), I had to blow out making my 10k run return. I haven't run a 10k in over a year and was really up for getting back on the wagon. But not having eaten properly for the 2 preceding days I would definitely not have the energy levels needed to run over hill and down dale for and hour at 10 in the morning!! I was majorly disappointed not to be able to join Jason that day, but I think he had fun.



Sunday evening I joined Danny B and Gregg, to see Al Murray, the Pub Landlord, at the London Palladium. I think the performance was 'Giving it both Barrels'. I met with Dan and headed into town where we met young Gregg, who was nursing an mouth ulcer. I was totally thrilled to be seeing Al Murray being a big fan of his from his TV show Time Gentlemen Please and had a good night out have I chortled the whole time!

I now have my region 1 copy of the complete first season of Heroes. Top banana! I have to thank Jason for switching me onto this show which first premiered in the UK on the Sci Fi Channel. I had seen the promos for the show but totally missed its arrival. In my opinion, one of the best series on TV right now, and it feels good to have it in my possession whilst most other people are only now discovering the show at the moment on the BBC.

NB It also helps that the fox Hayden Panettiere is in the show. Cue much drooling!

How Squish (is trying) to get his groove back

One I've learnt this past week is that when you've spent almost 2 weeks lazing about laying on the beach and sipping on fruit punch, it's difficult to get back into regular life; you know the standard 9 to 5 (or 6 in my case). I've only just managed to squeak into work on time each day, thank God that the schools are on their summer break, making the roads quieter, because that's been my saving grace right now.

It hasn't taken me that long however to get back into staying up past midnight for no particular reason, usually falling asleep about 1am while watching one of my tv show box sets; House, Married with Children or the Animaniacs. And I wonder why I'm always so tired in the morning!

I returned to my Body Pump class and badminton on Wednesday, which feel great to be exercising again but I did ache Thursday and Friday which mean I must of hit the right spot!

And finally I attempted to watch Brokeback Mountain on Friday evening. It was on Sky, had won 3 Oscars, and I was aware that it was a love story between two cowboys. I gave it a go. I managed to get past the first sex scene as it was just short scene, mostly fumbling but moments later when it looked like the two guys where about to kiss I had to bail out! I'm not homophobic, but watching guys kiss! Not for me!

The boy's done good! / The long haul

First off, a very big well done and congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for his maiden Formula 1 win. It a was remarkable win considering his immediate and arguably more skilled rivals all goofed up so much so the it was also the 1st podium this year not monopolised by Ferrari or McLaren. Even better, Lewis is British and will definitely win the World Championship; if not this year, then very, very soon. He is 8 points clear at the top of the Championship and has yet to finish outside the top 3, again something his own team mate and current World Champion has failed to do.

Keep it up my son! (N.B He is also the very first black Formula 1 winner!)

Unfortunately my love of motor racing wore heavy yesterday as there were 5 different disciplines on which meant 7 hours of tv (I had to pass on the last one which would have made it 9 hours!)

First up was the DTM (German touring cars), that started at 1pm.


Followed smartly by the Australian V8s (Australian touring cars). Luckily it was only race one, as race 2 and 3 take place today. [11/6]


I had an hour's gap before the Formula 1 started...


..and showing at the exact same time was the Indy Racing League (America's version of F1, but mostly on oval tracks). Which I then watched on recording once the F1 was over.


Lastly the Champ Cars (another American version of F1, but this time mostly on regular race tracks), but this started at 9pm and I really had enough of cars by then. Still, I've got it recorded!

TV manic!

I was a big time TV fiend on Sunday having to watch about 7 hours of shows saved on my Sky+. Had to clear some space. My favorite shows are; Ugly Betty, The West Wing, ER, Blade: The Series, Heroes, 24, Futurama, Grand Designs, Prison Break, Daybreak and Father Ted, with House MD joining the pack on it's 3rd season debut last Thursday.

The reason for such a feast? - My love of motor racing!

Formula One is not the only motor sport I follow. Oh no. The Indy Racing League (IRL) started its year Saturday and the Australian V8s 2nd round took place too, AND A1 Grand Prix had it's 9th round; meaning I needed lots of space on me Sky+ hard drive. Bad news is I also watch British Touring Cars (BTCC), World Touring Cars (WTCC), German Touring Cars (DTM), World Rally Cars (WRC) and Champ Car World Series!! Phew!

Nothin doing

Its been a nothing week this week. Nothing particularly exciting, dramatic or interesting has happened. With Sky back on I've been catching up on the 'lost' episodes of "24", "Prison Break" and "Futurama" that was locked down. Also been re watching the first season of "House" on dvd.

I must say that from the "Futurama" episode 'Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love' I have picked up a quote from Zoidberg to live life by;

Leela: 'It's amazing that your people can fall in love so fast.'
Zoidberg: 'Love? That word is unknown here. I'm simply looking for a female swollen with eggs, to accept my genetic material.'
Fry: 'You and me both brother.'

I'm now 4 xmas cards down now with 2 to go and I'm also coming up with ideas for a second series 6 cards featuring the same characters.

Saturday night was spend round a mate's house; Nik-e who I went college with. I hadn't seen her for a while. So we did some catching up, and she showed me her songwriting skills, playing me the track recorded by the singer she writes for, then singing me the other unrecorded tracks herself. I have to say I was very impressed.

It was my brother, Brian's birthday on Wednesday and I gave him my old PSP games console plus a new game and film. He was over the moon with his gift. He had said before that he would happily accept my old PSP when I bought me a white one to replace it! The white PSP will come next month as a substitute to the PS3 which I wont be able to afford come launch day: 23rd March.

TV manic!

I'm back! Wasn't able to log into my own blog. Some maintenance problem and blah, blah, blah! Needless to say, I stayed in this weekend (see previous post), and caught up with some television; well my Sky+. I like the show '7th Heaven' and its showing every day on 'Hallmark'. They seem intent on showing every one of the 10, or so, seasons concurrently which means every week I'm 7 hours further behind. There is only so much good ole, wholesome family drama with a Christian slant, that a man can take.

Smoking is bad. Rap music is bad. Drinking is bad. Sex before marriage is bad. Intolerance is bad. Family is good. Respect for one parents, elders or responsible guardian is good. Learning from one's mistakes is good. You get the idea.

I've watched the entire second season of 'House' on DVD (not over this weekend, but over the last month), and have the first season waiting at the post office for me to pay the £10 import tax I've been hit with. Bah!

I also need to invest in 'The West Wing' on DVD, but until then I'll make do with the reruns on 'More 4'.
