Not enough Jojo

I don't think there is enough Jojo on this blog. So to redress the balance here is the video to her second US release 'How to Touch a Girl'.

It hasn't had its UK release yet and I'm not sure that it will, but it caused a bit of a stir in the States due to the title of the song and her age. However the 'touching' of a girl is meant in the emotional sense, not the physical one.

Sadly there has been no photo shoots of Jojo since her birthday, so no new photos, but she is in the UK promoting her album 'The High Road' and has been on the radio, (thanks Martin) and was recently at an album signing at HMV Bluewater.

Blood on the streets of Barking

In the first 12 days of this year 4 young men have died a violent death in Barking all minutes from where I work every day, and I could personally show you the exact spots where they fell. All 4 have made the national press and TV news.

At 5pm New Years day a 17 year old boy was stabbed to death on Ripple Road, Barking, whilst returning home from a shopping trip with 2 friends. Apparently, someone pulled up in a car, jumped out, stabbed him and drove off again.

The next day another man had arrived at River Road, Barking in order to pick up his car from a repair garage when he was shot dead in the street, again by an unknown assailant.

And finally, just last Friday, the 12th, when whilst definitely trespassing and allegedly for the purpose of graffiti, 2 young men of 19 and 21 died after being struck by a tube train travelling at 30mph whilst fleeing after being challenged by security and LT staff. There was actually 4 of them all together but 2 escaped death but not capture. This happened not 500yds from my office at 11pm.

These deaths, especially the last 2 due to the unnecessary way to die, (in the pursuit of spraying ones name on a wall) has highlighted to me how fragile and fleeting life is. That we may not live to see tomorrow, and that we should enjoy every minute of life; with our friends, our family and with our dreams and goals. Natural death and old age is not guaranteed to everyone, as a quick flick through any newspaper will show you..

So enjoy life people, because none of us know when our last day will be.....

Happy Birthday Gregg!

Us Capricorns are a thoughtful lot. While everyone is getting over Christmas and getting back into work. Trying to give up those cigarettes or lose weight, or whatever resolution they have. The evenings are still dark and the weather still cold and depressing. Yet, us Capricorns are there: having our birthdays early on so the rest of the world can still have a party, and have some cheer to keep their spirits up.

This weekend my best bud Gregg clicked another year off on his age'ometer'. Never one to think small, Gregg originally wanted to go to Paris for Saturday night, Eurostar there and back, but the slow take-up meant that plan ended back on the shelf. In the end dinner and drinks was arranged in Farringdon. Gregg was late to his birthday dinner due to work, and I just turned up for the drinks.

Sunday, Gregg had a family dinner and his house prepared by his mom and I'm sure, his sisters. It was a lovely family evening with his sisters and their husbands and their children, and his girlfriend, and Me! Yay!

Computer blues

Had a scare earlier this week. I fell asleep and left my computer on overnight; no screen saver enabled. Woke up to find that everything on the screen had a blue hue, like a blue filter over the screen. The last time I saw this occurrence, it was on my TV. The tube had gone and I was told by the repair guy that it would be cheaper to buy a new TV than fix the old one.

My computer is an apple eMac; an all-in-one machine. With a blown screen I'd have a dead computer, with no way to rescue the files stored on it already. A scary proposition! Thankfully it seems to have settled itself. There is is still a blue 'mist' though, but maybe I now have a bit of time to back up my itunes, photos and the like.

Also I've had the new BT broadband upgrade. I'm running up to 6 meg now. My manager joked at work today that 'I can now download porn quicker'.
Har, bloody, har!!

Life!

Life aye! Who's bloody idea was that? Bet they've sodded off back home laughing.

"Lets have 2 similar but completely opposite creatures, then have them not understand the other EVER! No matter how many centuries the live together, cohabiting and studying each other.

THEN lets make all the life forms on the rock breathe in oxygen but breathe out poison, then have the plants and trees breathe in the poison and breathe out oxygen. That way the trees will be safe.

To stop overcrowding will we make their bodies fail and decay from the moment of birth, then for good measure we'll throw in an incurable disease from time to time. Or a 'natural' disaster.

Now lets give our 2 creatures different skin shades and belief systems and values; that way it would be easy for them to create unnecessary conflict and hurt each other.

Last but no means least, lets give them emotion and thought. Now, for every one that cares; there will be one that don't care. For every one that thinks he's right, there will be another one that thinks HE'S right.

Put them all together on a little spinning rock in space, and call it "Life'"

Project No 1

About 5 years ago I designed a set of 6 Christmas cards, and then that was that. I've decided to revive the project. Improve the visuals and art work, and try to see where I get with them. I've put one below, which I've had to watermark with my 'green 18' logo for copyright reasons. Features Santa and Rudolph.
